Rumour Has It showcased a selection of contemporary art practices with works by passionate, young artists from the Marres region. It featured a remarkable selection of pieces by nineteen emerging artists who presented this work publicly after their time at the academy. Each work was a statement with its own execution and theme, challenging the viewer not to see the result as a finished product, but rather as a layered form of expression. Compared to prevailing trends in contemporary art, the selected artists surprised and convinced with their work. Through their participation, they not only brought their own work into the spotlight but simultaneously represented a contemporary movement.
Rumour Has It was about searching and discovering, for both the artist and the visitor. Amid an environment full of stories, forms, colors, and performances, the two meet somewhere in between.
